Sidney Hickson is a proud native of Decatur, Georgia — a storyteller shaped by resilience, service, and an unwavering drive to reinvent herself. A retired firefighter with more than 20 years of dedicated service, Sidney built a career rooted in courage, discipline, and compassion for others.

Beyond public service, Sidney is an accomplished author and the founder of Hickson Publications, where she brings bold, heartfelt stories to life that challenge, inspire, and connect readers across generations. Her writing reflects depth, truth, imagination, and the human experience — from historical fiction to powerful contemporary narratives.

Sidney’s adventurous spirit has also carried her beyond the written page. She appeared on the survival reality series I Survived Bear Grylls, proving that determination and grit are not just themes in her stories — they are part of who she is.

A devoted mother to two grown sons and a proud dog mom to Caan and King, Sidney continues to create, inspire, and build a lasting literary legacy from the South she calls home.
